According to mental health experts, the anxieties and mental distress of scores of professionals faded when they spent jovial time with their families as they worked-from-the-home-office. Definitely, this claim cannot be undermined as it speaks volumes about the positive impacts of home-office on our mental health.

Sometimes, trends set in at such a quick pace that there’s hardly any time for people to react. Though this is only partially true for working-from-home-office (WFH), it’s yet to be accepted as the new normal for some of us. Why I’m saying that is because the hybrid work model is a likely possibility. Here I would like to bring my case into the discussion. I spent most of 2021 in my home-office and was eagerly waiting to return to my regular office. Although I spent a healthy time with my family during WFH, I was equally eager to meet my colleagues. However, the premature happiness was marred by the threat of Omicron.

Well, my employer and most of my colleagues found it safer to WFH in 2022. However, I was more in favour of the hybrid model. So, I decided to speak with an old friend who’s a practising psychiatrist; well, I wanted to know his take on the home-office. I was startled to find out that mental health experts are all praises for WFH. In the words of my friend: “Over the past two months or so, I have counselled many working professionals on working-from-home-office. In my opinion, WFH is a much-needed change in our work-culture which had become quite monotonous. Now you tell me something; when there’s a raging pandemic, is there a better way of staying safe, healthy, and productive?”

He added: “It’s not just me who’s in favour of the home-office. Most of the fellow psychiatrists and counsellors are thinking on the same lines. Home-offices need to be encouraged because they provide a big relief from the bustling traffic that people wade through while commuting to work. Home-offices have revitalised the bonds between professionals and their families. Meanwhile, a home-office is a great platform to reconnect with yourself.”

We had pushed ourselves so much into work that we were beginning to lose our essence. Happiness, satisfaction, and socialising had begun to erode from our lives. When we spent almost one-and-a-half years in the home-offices, we realised that the moments spent in solitude allowed us to reconnect with our lost self. It also stirred our creative streak, which was visible in our experiments in home-office designs, themes, and arrangements.

You can foster bonds with family and friends

It’s quite natural that the more time you spend with your family, the better it is for your health and mood. How mental health experts portray this point is very interesting. They say that the whole feeling of being safe is enough to keep professionals happy, healthy, and productive especially with ergonomic furniture like a sit stand desk. and desk chair  And this fosters tremendous savings on medical bills and transportation costs. The whole prospect of savings in these times is enough to boost people’s mood and productivity. Moreover, when you work-from-home-office, you spend a good amount of time work-outs; something amiss during the workload of the regular office.

Home-offices have arrived as a boon for working professionals because of the aforementioned benefits.  The crux of the matter is that a home-office is the new normal and we should accept it as a part of our lives. The sooner we do it, the better it is for us.
