What is emotional intelligence? Does it mean those without it, or with less, have a lesser chance at maintaining healthy unions? By all means no, because it all boils down to how you respond, react, or are indifferent to certain issues. Life throws so much at us from an early age, and by the time we fall deeply in love, it can be hard to know how to respond to situations.

Emotional intelligence dictates how we perceive and/or react in certain trying situations. Once single men and women are in relationships, a high level of emotional intelligence is helpful. This EQ can be found in ladies, or gents, on an international dating website, where different cultures are represented.

EQ: How is it Exhibited

Meeting the emotional demands of a relationship can be challenging. It takes maturity and a certain amount of compassion to meet personal demands and those of one’s partner. Let’s examine 5 cues that a couple possesses high EQ and the benefits therein.

Empathy

If a partner is struggling emotionally, they will receive the help they need. This can be because their compassionate, human nature allows them to feel what their partner is going through. Instead of blaming someone for their struggles, they will offer support and solutions. It is the difference between pointing fingers and saying I told you so, and working as a couple, not competitors. Empathy is lacking in most relationships, and without it, a couple can end up quite distressed.

Friendships

They have a relationship built on friendship. Most couples with high EQ share more than physical attraction. Find someone on an international dating website and you will understand this. You will become friends at first, possibly flirting at times, but sharing more than kisses and a bed. This will grow into something enviable, as times get tough. It becomes increasingly more important when couples are struggling, as the high EQ lets them help out a friend, rather than just a lover.

Intuition

What drives your partner, and yourself? Do you know these factors or do you simply wing it? With couples of high EQ, they are aware of their partner’s drive, and weaknesses. It is a matter of learning what makes a partner tick. With such couples, they will intuitively know what makes the other tick, without having to ask. This level of emotional intelligence guarantees each partner that their spouse can resolve matters even without being told, or when one simply says they are ‘fine’.

Remaining Unattached

Removing feelings from a relationship seems like an oxymoron, but it can be necessary. It means not letting emotions fly high especially when angry. For instance, when one partner is irate, it should not trickle to their spouse. Knowing when to detach from feelings and respond to matters accordingly is a trait few possess. It is found predominantly in couples with a high level of EQ, some from an international dating website, or mutual friends.

Positive Vibes

Couples with high EQ exude positive vibes, even when things go awry. This means they stay optimistic and see the good rather than bad in their partners too. As opposed to always pointing out negatives, they focus on the positive vibes, knowing those will outshine the bad always. It is a trait that is hard to come by, even with a high EQ, but it can be developed for everyone’s benefit. These positive vibes help when couples seem to have several trying differences. As opposed to simply calling them irreconcilable differences, they will work to fix them.

Although this list does not exhaust the signs of a high EQ in couples, it points out the main components of emotional intelligence. Couples exhibiting such traits are bound to go further in their relationships
